On the Road with Ikon Pass :: Spring Skiing at Solitude Mountain

Happy New Year, friends!

I’m sure some of you already know this, but Winter is my FAVORITE season. There’s something so magical about the way snow transforms our favorite landscapes, and opens up a whole new way to explore. The 21/22 season marks my FOURTH year of collaborating with the ultimate ski fam, Ikon Pass, and while this season already shows signs of being the best one yet, I wanted to step back and share some highlights from this past year.

Nestled between Park City and Salt Lake City is one of my favorite resorts in Utah :: Solitude Mountain. Solitude was actually the first place I skied in Utah a few years back, and after a single afternoon, I was HOOKED. Luckily, this time around we were able to stay right in the village at the Inn at Solitude, and spend a few days exploring.

Even though we were there at the tail end of the season, most trails still had decent coverage on them (and that’s not just as a Northeast skier talking, ha!). Any local will tell you that no trip to Solitude would be complete without exploring Honeycomb Canyon - especially right after a powder day. With countless side lanes and a few challenging pitches, the area is very “choose your own adventure”, making every run unique! Honeycomb Canyon is accessed via gates near the top of Summit Express, Powderhorn II, and Eagle Express chairlifts.

Après-ski at the base means soaking up the sunshine and snacking on a sugary treat from Little Dollie Waffles. There’s several other places in the village to grab meals, from Last Chance Lodge, Moonbeam Lodge, Stone Haus Pizzeria, and Roundhouse. Plus, if you have your Ikon Pass on hand, remember that you can get 15% off food and beverage (excluding alcohol)!

You Ikon Pass has some other great perks at Solitude. From discounted friends and family lift tickets (10 days at 25% off Adult, Senior, or Junior window price), Free UTA Ski Bus access, 15% off at both Canyon Fever stores, $99 upgrade for a Solitude Nordic Season Pass, and Half-day rates on Nordic day pass and Nordic ski rentals at the Solitude Nordic Center.

P.S. Keep the party going by lodging right in the village! We stayed at the Inn at Solitude, that features ski-in/ski-out access and has all the charm of a Bavarian lodge. And perk :: Lodging guests in Solitude Village are invited to soak their aching muscles and be refreshed in the heated outdoor swimming pool at Club Solitude!
